Same weather. Same route. Got it done.
First couple miles weren't bad — the air almost feels manageable at the start and then mile three hits and the heart rate starts to spike. That's just what this place does in June. It's not a fitness thing.

On hot days I'm learning to stop looking at the heart rate number. You just gotta run your pace — whatever feels easy — and let the heat do what it's gonna do. Usually 7:51 feels like nothing. Out here right now, easy is somewhere around 8:30 to 9. You accept the range.
Threw in a few short strides toward the end. Opened up for a couple seconds here and there. Felt good to actually move fast even if most of the run was just damage control.
The hotel had eucalyptus towels waiting at the gym. That part was pretty great.

Couple more months of summer running. Hot weather doesn't go anywhere and that's kind of the point — you get used to being uncomfortable and come October that pays off. That's what I keep telling myself anyway.
